What is Worship?

One of the most important acts we can do as Christians is to worship our Heavenly Father.  It is here that we enter into His presence to give Him the glory and honour He deserves, and to receive for ourselves the blessing of His Spirit.  The cornerstone of our worship services at St. Paul’s is the preaching of the word, brought faithfully each week to the congregation by our Pastor, the Rev. Jack Archibald.  Every Sunday at both services, Jack instructs, encourages and challenges us with the word of God, presented in a relevant, contemporary manner.

In The New Millennium

At St. Paul’s, we believe it is essential to share the good news of the message of salvation through Jesus Christ in a way that is relevant to the society around us.  Our early service, Sunday mornings at 9:00, seeks to provide an informal atmosphere in which to worship and share fellowship.  Our contemporary worship team provides leadership, and members of the congregation assist with leading particular aspects of the service, such as the congregational prayer.  The musical focus is predominantly contemporary (both in terms of the song selection and instrumentation), while preserving a strong respect for the “hymns of the past” (sometimes re-done with new musical arrangements).  We encourage young people of all ages to remain with us for the entire service, and colouring and puzzle materials based on the morning’s theme are provided for younger children.  Nursery care is provided for the very young, and a story and playtime is also available for children ages 4-9.  In addition, an adult Sunday School class runs concurrently with the service.  We invite you to join us for our next contemporary service!

Honouring The Traditions Of The Past

Of equal importance to presenting the gospel message in a manner relevant to our contemporary society is the appropriate preservation of the depth of historical tradition on which our faith is based.  At our second service, Sunday mornings at 10:30, you will find many of the familiar “traditional” elements.  Musical leadership is provided by the choir, and our gifted pianist and organist provide a rich musical backdrop against which to sing the many great hymns of the faith, together with contemporary selections.  Just as in the contemporary service, young people are encouraged to remain with us for the entire service, and colouring and puzzle materials based on the morning’s theme are provided for younger children.  Nursery care is provided for the very young, and our Christian Education programme for both children and adults runs from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.  We look forward to seeing you next Sunday!
